The spread of Covid-19 and the resulting global pandemic have sent tremors through most industries across the world – from aviation right through to hospitality.

The global commercial real estate industry has seen significant shifts as a result of social distancing measures introduced to combat the spread of Covid-19. With considerable changes occurring in the workplace, retail shops and leisure facilities having to adapt to new operating requirements, it is evident that in 2020 there has been transformation in the property industry at a scale and speed never previously experienced.

The pandemic has demonstrated the importance of responding with agility to unforeseen events and has also exposed the need for the industry to come together to tackle the challenges that are being posed by this crisis. It is also providing companies with unique opportunities to re-align their business processes and position themselves to take advantage of longer-term opportunities.

UKPropTech recently spoke with Robert Courteau, CEO of Altus Group, to discuss these issues and find out his views on the future of the commercial real estate industry.

In this interview Robert provides insights into:

  • innovative solutions which are driving digital transformation
  • exciting developments in the pipeline at Altus Group
  • the future of data usage in commercial real estate
  • and the direction of travel for the industry over the short to medium term.

He also shares his thoughts on the importance of Altus Cares – the initiative which encourages employees to support personal causes close to their heart through volunteering, partnerships, and charitable giving.
