About this project

The redevelopment and expansion of the Surrey Memorial Hospital included the renovation of the emergency department and the addition of a critical care tower. As part of the Province of British Columbia’s commitment to sustainability and green buildings, the project was designed and built to achieve LEED Gold certification and comply with the Wood First Act. It was delivered under a 30-year Design Build Finance Maintain agreement, and includes a separate children’s ER, a specialized mental health and geriatric units, an enhanced minor treatment unit, an improved area for acute patients, a neonatal intensive care unit, an expanded maternity ward and new obstetric beds, medical education, office, common service, special purpose accommodations, and below and above ground parking.
