Noi Bai International Airport, the gateway to Vietnam’s capital, serves the whole of the Northern Vietnam region. Terminal T2 is an essential upgrade to the existing Airport, which is operating more than 50% over the designed capacity of the current facilities. Acting on behalf of Japan Airport Consultants (JAC), Altus Group provided Cost Management services to the Government of Vietnam from initial budget estimates through to preparation of the Bill of Quantities prior to award of the contract for the construction works. Currently, Altus Group is managing the post-contract administration of the works in progress including the remeasurement of the contract quantities and ultimately, the settlement of the final account.

The project is funded by loans from the Japanese Government via the Japan International Co-operation Agency (JICA) and their overseas development aid program. Construction work started in early 2012 and completion of T2 was done at the end of 2014, which has allowed the Airport to handle up to an additional 16 million passengers per annum and increase the total designed capacity to over 20 million. The project was delivered on time and within the original contract sum (including contingency allowances), despite additional scope of works such as the proposed new multistorey secure car park. The new terminal will be capable of handling the largest commercial passenger aircraft including the A380-800.
