Latrobe Regional Hospital
Latrobe Regional Hospital is a designated regional hospital and the largest health care provider in the Gippsland region.
Altus Group was engaged by the VIC Department of Health and Human Services to provide full Cost Management services for the Latrobe Regional Hospital Stage 2A expansion. The project was designed to improve access to efficient, high quality health care services for the Gippsland community and encourage health care professionals to live and work in the region. Following the completion of Stage 2A, Altus was commissioned to deliver full cost planning services for all phases of Stage 3A, the next stage of the Latrobe Regional Hospital expansion, in order to meet increasing and complex health demands in the region.
The $73 million Stage 2A project, which was completed in August 2017, includes 30 new acute inpatient beds, 12 new short stay beds, two endoscopy rooms, a new emergency department, and Gippsland’s first cardiac catheterisation laboratory, along with a café, satellite imaging (x-ray, CT scan and ultrasound), a new four vehicle ambulance bay, new main entrance and drop-off area, and extended central plant area.
The $217 million Stage 3A project will include the expansion of the maternity unit and delivery of three new operating theatres, 44 new inpatient beds, and 14 new medical and surgical beds. Six new intensive care unit beds and an extra emergency department bay will also be provided. The project, which is due for completion in 2023, will increase special care services and improve the range of health services available for Gippsland residents.
