GTA new home sales update – January 2021

The GTA new home market saw a busy January, with a total of 2,171 new home sales in January, which was up 4% from January last year and 19% above the 10-year average.

“The 2021 new home market has started the year where it left off in 2020, with strong demand continuing for single-family homes and fewer new condominium apartment openings, which impacted condominium sales volumes,” said Ryan Wyse, Altus Group’s Manager, Analytics, Data Solutions.

In January, the benchmark price for new single-family homes was $1,362,952, which was up 24.2% over the last 12 months, and the benchmark price for new condominium apartments was $1,021,017, which was up 10.4% over the last 12 months.
