What happens when I challenge my business rates?
The landscape for challenging business rates changed dramatically from April 2017 onwards due to the change in the appeal regulations in England. The Government introduced a system called “Check, Challenge and Appeal” (CCA). This three-stage process requires a detailed valuation case for a reduction to be made much earlier in proceedings.
Challenging your business rates can be confusing and time consuming, and you only have one attempt at it. This is why it is important to use an agent to act on your behalf, so that you can maximise the success of your appeal.
