EBITDA

EBITDA is an acronym for "earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization." It is calculated by taking operating income and adding back to it interest, depreciation and amortization expenses. EBITDA is used to analyze a company's operating profitability before non-operating expenses (interest) and non-cash charges (depreciation and amortization). As such, it can be used to analyze the profitability between companies and industries, eliminating the effects of financing and accounting decisions.

International Financial Reporting Standard (IFRS)

A standard and interpretation adopted by the International Accounting Standards Board.

In February 2008, the CICA confirmed that it will converge GAAP with International Financial Reporting Standards (“IFRS”), as issued by the International Accounting Standards Board, effective January 1, 2011. IFRS uses a conceptual framework similar to GAAP, but there are significant differences in recognition, measurement and disclosures. For the Fund, the changeover to IFRS will be required for interim and annual consolidated financial statements beginning on January 1, 2011. It will also require the restatement for comparative purposes of amounts reported by the Fund for its interim and annual consolidated financial statements in 2010.
