Jim Clayton, PhD, Special Advisor
Jim Clayton is an Associate Professor of Finance and Real Estate at the University of Cincinnati, where he teaches
courses in real estate finance, investment and development. His research focuses on
real estate investment, valuation and cycles for both private and
public real estate. He has published in the leading academic real estate
journals including Real Estate Economics, the Journal of Real Estate Finance and Economics, the Journal
of Real Estate Research, as well as the Canadian Investment Review and the Canadian Journal of
Administrative Sciences. Professor Clayton has developed Real
Estate Capital Market courses for the Dayton Chapter of NAIOP and
also PricewaterhouseCooper's Real Estate Group. He serves on the
board of directors of the American Real Estate and Urban Economics
Association and the editorial boards of Real Estate Economics and
the Journal of Real Estate Portfolio Management. He works with other Clayton Research senior staff on assignments involving the
application of quantitative modelling techniques to enhance understanding and to forecast real estate
space (user), asset market dynamics, and real estate price imports. He serves on the editorial boards of
Real Estate Economics, the leading U.S. academic real estate journal, and Real Estate Finance, a top real
estate investment industry research periodical. Recent honours include three consecutive research grants
from the Real Estate Research Institute (RERI) and the 2000 Homer-Hoyt post-doctoral fellow award.
